Recording and Record Producer
Hello my name is David Swanson, better known as Swanee and I am, what is commonly known as a record producer. When I tell people that I am a record producer, I almost always get asked, what does a record producer do? In a nut shell, I am the guy that takes a recording project from concept to completion, or anything in-between. In the recording industry time is money. Studio time is very rarely cheep, so when mistakes are made you have to go back and play or sing the parts again until you” get it right”. Every mistake is more studio time and more money. My job is to minimize the mistakes or more importantly catch the mistakes the first time to save time. In the long run a good producer will not only make a better recording, but will also cut down your studio time.
My long history in the music business, studio engineering, and formal training is a rare commodity. Being an owner and leader of bands since the 70s I know just how to get the best performance out of the musicians and singers.
As far as arranging musical parts I play a multitude of different instruments, both professionally and privately, so I am well versed in strings, keys, percussion, woodwinds, brass… Arrangement come second nature for me in almost all musical styles.
Currently, I am chief in house producer at “Custom Recording Studios” www.customrecordingstudios.com The oldest and longest running professional recording studio in Minneapolis. I will also freelance my services to many other studios, and I own my own 24 track digital work studio at my residence which I make, write, and produce, radio jingles, post video, and voiceovers.
